About Us

The Agency was established by the Primary Health Care Development Agency Law No 3 of 2014 and was enacted by the Taraba State House of Assembly to come into operation on the 23rd Day of February, 2015. TRPHCDA is poised to ensure a healthy society in Taraba State through a people–centred primary healthcare system. We strive for leadership in the promotion and implementation of high quality, sustainable by supporting delivery through resource mobilization, partnership, collaboration, development of community based systems and faction.

The Agency is made up of a Governing Board Consisting of the following:

  • A Part-Time Chairman appointed by the State Governor
  • A representative of the Ministry of Health
  • One representative of Local Government Councils to represent all the Chairman of Local Government Councils of the State.
  • A representative of the Ministry of Justice
  • A representative of the Planning Commission
  • One representative each from the Three Senatorial Zones, One of which shall be female.
  • A representative of the Private Health Practitioners

The Agency also has an Executive Secretary appointed by the Governor. The Executive Secretary shall be a Senior Public Health Practitioner hawing at least a Post Graduate Degree in Public Health. The Executive Secretary shall be the Chief Executive and Accounting Officer of the Agency, responsible for the day to day affairs of the Agency.
